About Rags

Hi, I'm Alysa! Artist, designer and the little hands behind Rags by Alysa. I came up with this project from a desire to create beautiful clothes from second-hand fabrics - and to address the huge textile waste problem we have in Australia (and globally). It's a drop in the ocean, but for me it's a wonderful creative exploration and there's something so rewarding about transforming "waste" into something beautiful that someone can wear and appreciate.

At Rags by Alysa, every garment tells a story of renewal. Inspired by the rich palette of Australian landscapes – from sun-drenched summers to lush flora and fauna – I breathe new life into forgotten fabrics. Using traditional block printing techniques, I hand-print and dye pre-loved textiles, transforming them into unique, vibrant garments that celebrate creativity and consciousness.

More than just clothing, each piece is a canvas that reflects nature's colors and the spirit of creative reinvention. It's my way of inviting you to wear a deeply personal work of art that carries both environmental meaning and aesthetic beauty.
